The criminal appellate work done by Kindlon Shanks & Associates includes direct appeals in both New York State and federal courts and other post-conviction remedies. A direct appeal involves challenging errors in the record of the case—errors which can result in either a new trial or dismissal of the charges. Other types of post-conviction motions are filed where there is new evidence, or where the errors were not part of the record in the lower court.
